Decidedly left-of-center and official last entry in the long and mostly dreadful series that has a drifter with a dark and beastly past joining an unconventional freak-show (hence the film's title) ran by a sadistic and evil man with a disturbing secret of his own. This film went straight to video back in 91' for good reason because both the direction and acting here leave much to be desired. However though, the monstrous special- effects (i.e. gory sequences), unsettling story and all-around creepy atmosphere more than make up for that ultimately allowing this flick to become a great deal more entertaining that it really has any right to be considering it's embarrassingly small budget and sub-par performances. Overall, I'd say that the little-seen "Howling VI: The Freaks" veers dangerously close in many ways to being on par with the first film. (**1/2 out of *****)
