Trivia:
In an interview director Harry Bromley Davenport said star Jan-Michael Vincent was extremely difficult to work with. Vincent didn't care about the film and thus didn't memorize his lines. Davenport was then forced to feed every line to him while filming each scene. moreFAQ

Seven years after he directed the British Sci-fi Horror classic "Xtro", Harry Bromley Davenport brought the Canadian produced "Xtro 2" to the Horror loving world, but the results are not nearly as successful. First off, this is simply a loose sequel to "Xtro". The original's take on body snatching and alien abduction is replaced with a cliqued "Aliens" inspired story about a group of scientist being stalked by an alien they accidentally released from another dimension. "Xtro 2" is plagued with several problems. For one thing, perhaps most importantly this is simply overly produced and polished. The reason why "Xtro" worked so well is because it was unapologetically cheep and nasty (it was one of two British films on the video nasty list). By contrast, "Xtro 2" feels like a Hollywood film, even though it was made in Canada. In addition, the characters are very shallow; I didn't care about any of them. "Xtro 2" also features some lazy writing, the developments are thoroughly predictable. Overall "Xtro 2" is a really disappointing and pretty bad follow up to one of the unsung classics of the 1980's. This is little more than a poor Hollywood style action film, which is a real shame considering the original stood against safe and routine cinema.
