'Tmnt' Most Likely Going Hybrid

9 September 2008 9:15 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

The next movie project about the four pizza-loving ninja turtles, "Untitled New Tmnt Project", is going to be different than its previous installments. While confirming that there will be another "Tmnt" movie, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" revealed that the new film will be made into neither a live-action nor a CGI, instead it will be designed as a "hybrid".

To MTV's Splash Page, the owner of "Tmnt" stated, "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next 'Tmnt' movie should be what we've been calling a 'hybrid' - that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."

Noting that the plot of the new movie has yet to be determined,

Hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie Coming

9 September 2008 8:00 PM, PDT | From MoviesOnline.ca | See recent MoviesOnline news

Awhile back I reported that a live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie was in the works. Well apparently that post was put up by Kevin Eastman whom no longer really owns the property anymore. So sadly that doesn't seem to be happening. But, MTV caught up with the man who does know whats going on Peter Laird and asked him several questions about the project. Apparently they are in heavy talks to create a hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. What he means by that exactly is that they will take live actors and locations and add the Turtles in with CGI. Now I for one am not a fan of th...

So That Live-Action TMNT Movie is Actually Hybrid?

9 September 2008 3:41 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

I'm not sure whether it's the Toronto Film Fest or something else, but there have been way too many rumors popping up in the last few weeks, some of which turn out true, others false. We've milked the Ghostbusters news already, so now we've got to turn our attention to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. One week ago we posted an article where one of the TMNT creators had said that there has been talk about a live-action film, confirming early rumors. Unfortunately this scoop turned out to be completely fake. Thankfully MTV called up the other creator, Peter Laird, and sorted out this mess. Much to our delight, he does actually confirm they're doing another Turtles movie - but it'll be a hybrid instead. The guys at MTV put together a very comprehensive interview with Laird in order to make sure every little question about this film would be answered

Peter Laird reponds to 'Tmnt' rumors

9 September 2008 3:15 PM, PDT | From screeninglog.com | See recent screeninglog news

Now that several rumors about a new live-action "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie have been circling the Web for a couple of weeks, it's time to check in with the Turtles' co-creator and owner of the property Peter Laird and see what he has to say about it.

In a recent interview with MTV, Laird said most of the rumors that started with a post by co-creator Kevin Eastman were inaccurate: "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin."

Rush over to MTV's Splash Page to read what else Laird had to say.

Tmnt to Go Live Action/CGI Hybrid Route?

9 September 2008 1:15 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

I'm in the camp of people who enjoyed the recent big-screen CGI version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but some fans complained it was too kiddie and cartoony, while others demanded a return of the live-action heroes. Good news is everyone might just to get to have their cake and eat it too, as MTV spoke to Tmnt co-creator Peter Laird who claimed they're close to making a deal to create a "hybrid" film -- meaning part CGI and part live action. Remember Alvin and the Chipmunks? Yeah, like that ... except more pizza and more kick ass.

Laird explains, "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next "Tmnt" movie should be what we've been calling a "hybrid" - that is to say,

Live-Action Ninja Turtles Movie Still Planned

9 September 2008 11:31 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

When George Lucas revisited Star Wars and recast actors in rubber suits with complete CGI fabrication, many people called it sacrilege. And as co-creator Peter Laird considers revisiting the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with another live-action project, he'll be attempting the same feat-- without the massive fan backlash, of course. Speaking with MTV, Laird confirmed the rumor that there are plans for a live-action Turtles movie, but not quite like the original series from the early '90s. "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next "Tmnt" movie should be what we've been calling a "hybrid" - that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters

Live-Action 'Tmnt' Confirmation Debunked

5 September 2008 9:11 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Despite Kevin Eastman's previous confirmation on the making of brand new live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New Tmnt Project", recent report has suggested that the news holds no truth in it. Writing a response to Eastman's remark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Stephen Murphy wrote in his blog, The 5th Turtle, that it is "complete nonsense and entirely untrue".

Prior to this reaction, Murphy has also squashed Playmates Toys' claim about the same matter which led to Playmates to change their statement writing, "Following the success of the Tmnt theatrical release in 2007, Mirage Licensing is in negotiation with several companies about a new Tmnt movie for release in 2010." Commenting on the revised words, he further stated that he "can wholeheartedly confirm" the statement, but still noted that the new film is most likely to be coming out in 2011.

"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" is originated from Mirage

Top Directors Interested In Heavy Metal Movie

5 September 2008 9:34 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

A couple of days ago we reported on an interview with Kevin Eastman, the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, who had some inside knowledge on David Fincher's battle with Paramount over The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Comic fans were probably furious with us for ignoring what they must consider the more important part of the story-- Eastman and Fincher are working together on a third movie based on Heavy Metal, which will be an anthology of animated shorts based on comics that have appeared in the magazine over the years. But it turns out the original Eastman interview was with Rgb Filter, and they've put up the full video of their interview from Fan Expo. Eastman talked about much of his history in comics, from creating Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to buying Heavy Metal and then being disappointed when the second film, released in 2000, pretty much ignored all

'Tmnt' Sequel Rumor Control

4 September 2008 9:01 PM, PDT | From GetTheBigPicture.net | See recent Get The Big Picture news

IGN has culled news from various sources, trying to get to the bottom of new rumors about another live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The bottom line: It ain't happenin'. At least not in this incarnation.

Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman made the claims earlier this week on his Heavy Metal forum, but Tmnt writer Stephen Murphy calls them "complete nonsense and entirely untrue." So while a sequel may happen in a couple of years - emphasis on may - but it will be animated, I guess.

Of course, anyone who saw the animated movie last year was probably a little let down; the trailer was infinitely better. So a live action film seemed to be the most logical conclusion. Try telling that to Stephen Murphy.

Heavy Metal Finds Home at Sony

4 September 2008 1:23 PM, PDT | From TwitchFilm.net | See recent Twitch news

Its not very often to hear a studio willing to produce an edgy animated feature film with mature themes for the R-rated audience so when word got out in March that Paramount is developing another Heavy Metal anthology (the first film came out in 1981), I was quite pleased.  Based on a dark sci-fi and fantasy comics magazine of the same name, the film will contain eight or nine segment with each directed by a different director and much like its past predecessors, there will likely be bloody violence and sexual content.  Director David Fincher is already attached to the project with CG animation provided by Blur, the studio responsible for various intro cinematics in video games and an Oscar nominated animated short.  Then in July, Paramount has decided to put the project on hold, citing its “too risque for mainstream audiences”.  Apparently, that was not entirely the whole story.  Kevin Eastman,

Kevin Eastman Promises New Origin for 'Tmnt'

4 September 2008 8:49 AM, PDT | From Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news

Kevin Eastman told Heavy Metal that there will be one more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film and this will be a fresh look at their origin story.

“Yes, it is true,” Eastman told the site, which he owns. “Although the CGI film did well enough to warrant a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better ‘re-invention’ (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the Tmnt's, in a live action film — like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr. Laird, and discussions with the original ‘first’ Tmnt film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right — but no official word yet...will keep you posted.”

Barron directed that first film back in 1990.  It was followed in 1991 with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Mid-Week Movie News Wrap Up - Sept. 3, 2008

3 September 2008 4:53 PM, PDT | From ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news

Another Wednesday and therefore another Mid-Week Movie Wrap up to furnish you with the latest movie news around.

This week we look at:

Why Tim Roth isn’t in Inglorious Bastards, who will be directing a new Tarzan film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles go live action, Jerry Bruckheimer decides that Killing Rommel is a good idea and we search for The 39 Clues.

1. The reason that Tim Roth has not signed on to Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards is because he is going to star in the film version of Skellig.

The film will be based on the children’s novel by David Almond. The book follows a young boy named Michael who discovers what may or may not be an angel in his garage. The film will costar John Simms and Kelly MacDonald and it will be directed by Annabel Jankel of Super Mario Brothers fame. Ouch.

Eastman in talks for new 'Ninja Turtles'

Kevin Eastman has said he is in talks with Warner Bros. about a new live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film. The co-creator of the children's franchise claimed that the production company is keen on a "reinvention" of the characters in the style of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies. 'Watchmen' Trial Date, Bloody Bond, Superman Trilogy and a 'Dragonball' Poster

(clockwise from top left) Prince of Persia set pics, Pussycat Dolls, Dragonball poster, new Bond photos, Dragonball trailer caps, Star Trek, Tmnt live-action and Eric Roberts's step-son The Dark Knight on DVD and Blu-ray on December 16? This rumor says so... Never fear folks, the Watchmen trial is set for January 6. Here's a snippet: With a March release date looming, U.S. District Court Judge Gary Allen Feess said Fox should forgo any attempt to get a preliminary injunction against Warners to stop the release of the film because the issues were far too complex to be resolved on an interim basis, sources said. Instead, Feess told both sides to start building a factual record and start expedited discovery and depositions immediately. Eighteen new pictures from Quantum of Solace are now online. Set pics from Prince of Persia are online including a smashing good look at a dump truck. Hells yeah!

2 September 2008 9:16 PM, PDT | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

The rumor on the yet untitled live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New Tmnt Project", has been confirmed. Responding to the speculation on the possible development of a new Tmnt, Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has let out verification in a message he posted at Heavy Metal Forum.

There, the comic book artist wrote, "Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the Tmnt's, in a live action film - like what was done with Batman." Explaining further about the idea for the new project, he hinted that it may be dealing with the origin story of the mutant heroes.

Aside from teasing the plot, he also revealed that there is possibility that Steve Barron, the director of

Live-Action Ninja Turtles Really Happening

2 September 2008 5:31 PM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

In late July, Playmate Toys dropped a blurb on its official site saying that a new live-action version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was being made. When we and other sites attempted to report it, they quickly took down the notice. Everyone had a good laugh and assumed it must have been a typo. After all, this is Ninja Turtles, maybe it has life as a computer animated franchise but the days of audiences being entertained by guys in rubber suits is long over. isn.t it? Not so much. It looks like the blurb on the Playmate site wasn.t a typo. Kevin Eastman, who wrote the computer animated Tmnt movie in 2007, has left a post on the Heavy Metal forum in which he says the following: .Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do

It's Official - More Live-Action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

2 September 2008 5:31 PM, PDT | From firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news

Back in July, just before the arrival of The Dark Knight, we posted a very far-fetched rumor stating that the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie would be live-action. It came from a quote on the website of Playmate Toys, which was quickly changed after the original report. Until today, we haven't heard anything since that rumor, and speculated that it might have just been a mistake. But alas, it's been confirmed, by none other than Tmnt creator Kevin Eastman. Via the Heavy Metal Forums, Eastman writes that "it is true" and that Imagi is trying to do a "re-invention" or reboot rather than a sequel. Good idea? I'm not entirely sure yet, but I do know that I am getting a bit tired of reboots and remakes... Eastman explains on the forums that it is indeed true that they're developing a live-action Turtles movie, but it's only an idea

Living Ninja Turtles?

2 September 2008 3:16 PM, PDT | From JoBlo.com | See recent JoBlo news

Those famous half-shell heroes certainly have made the media rounds -- from comic book to videogames, action figures, live-action feature, cartoon series, CG-animation, and now... back to live-action? That would seem to be the case, according to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman. While the recent (and surprisingly enjoyable) computer-animated flick was popular enough to make a sequel possible, Eastman recently posted on the Heavy Metal forums: "There has been much...
