Patrick Swayze went against the advice of doctors by choosing to die at home, according to his widow Lisa Niemi.
The actor lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in September and passed away at the couple's house in Los Angeles with his family by his side.
Niemi reveals doctors wanted to keep the Ghost star in hospital, but her husband was adamant he wanted to die in the comfort of his own home.
She tells U.S. talk show host Larry King, "(He died) at home. And that was a big decision, to bring him home. There were some people encouraging (us) to keep him in the hospital, just simply because usually it's easier on the family."
And Niemi admits the actor was fully aware of what was happening when the end came.
She adds, "You know, even then (on the day he died), we didn't say it out loud. And I actually talked to a nurse about that, and I said, 'We haven't really talked about it and I haven't really said (anything). Are we both looking at the same thing here?' And she said, 'Trust me, he knows. He knows.'" »

Spoiler Alert: This weekly blog is for those who have been watching FlashForward. Don't read ahead if you haven't seen episode seven yet.
The Gift
In the dying throes of last week, the voiceover said that this was the episode you couldn't miss, because it would change everything – and for once, that turned out not to be hyperbole. In many ways, this episode has changed the possible direction of the show, and certainly has the possibility to extend the audience's engagement and patience with it. What did you think?
What happened?
The blue hand investigation of last week led, this week, to an underground movement of "Ghosts" – people who believe they're going to die anyway, so might as well live recklessly or choose the time to go for themselves. Lloyd Simcoe announced his decision »

Episode Title: "The Gift"
Written By: Lisa Zwerline & Ian Goldberg
Synopsis: The specific intentions of the Blue Hand become clearer as agents Mark Benford (Joseph Fiennes), Demetri Noh (John Cho) and Al Gough (Lee Thompson Young) dig deep into the organization's seedy underbelly. But that's not the only difficulty that Noh and Gough have to contend with, as each agent deals with the life-or-death implications of their experiences during the blackout.
Changing The Game: Well, how about that? Despite having a very vivid flash-forward — and a shared one, at that — Agent Al Gough was able to commit suicide, meaning that the deaths of those without flash-forwards isn't quite as set in stone as we were initially led to believe. How is this going to effect Demetri's attitude going forward? How does it possibly derail the Mosaic Investigation? The only thing we can say with any degree of certainty is that the flash-forwards aren't inevitable scenarios. »

Actress Suzanne Somers has backtracked over remarks she made about the late Patrick Swayze's cancer treatment, insisting her comments were misconstrued in the press.
The Three's Company star, who suffered her own cancer setback earlier this year, infuriated Swayze's grieving pals when she allegedly told a Canadian reporter the actor could have lived longer had he chosen alternative medical treatments instead of chemotherapy.
Somers is said to have told columnist Shinan Govani, "They took this beautiful man and they basically put poison in him. Why couldn't they have built him up nutritionally and gotten rid of the toxins in his body?"
The remarks prompted Swayze's Ghost co-star and devastated friend Whoopi Goldberg to publicly chastise Somers, claiming she "should know better".
But Somers maintains she didn't mean to offend anyone with her comments and simply meant Swayze might have benefited from testing other cancer treatments, like her late pal Farrah Fawcett.
She says, "I said an offhand remark... I shouldn't have said it, as a person in the public eye, even in private, what I say can leak out.
"(But) I had been through this cancer thing myself. I watched Farrah Fawcett die; she was a friend of mine. So it was my frustration from that that maybe if someone had gotten to her in another way (she might still be alive).
"If you are touched by cancer in some way, don't you want to know about other ways (of treatment)?"
Fawcett lost her battle with anal cancer in June after undergoing alternative medical treatment in Germany.
Swayze died in September following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Somers has previously stated she has written a letter to Swayze's widow Lisa Niemi apologising for her comments. »

Patrick Swayze's widow is willing the actor to return to her in spirit form.
Lisa Niemi admits she's finding it hard to detach from the late Ghost actor, nearly two months after he lost his battle with pancreatic cancer - and would love him to visit her from beyond the grave.
During an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show on Friday, she said, "I used to be so afraid of spirits and ghosts. Now I'm like 'show yourself'."
But she admits she still feels Swayze's presence and hasn't yet come to terms with the fact he has gone, adding, "I feel him there. I don't really feel like he's left. I can honestly feel every contour of his hand in mine. I hope it's not my imagination." »

Patrick Swayze's widow Lisa Niemi feared his alcohol abuse would kill him years before his tragic death from pancreatic cancer.
The couple hit a bump in their 34-year marriage back in 2003, when the Ghost actor's drinking spun out of control. They separated for a year, and Niemi reveals she left home because she couldn't bear to watch her husband kill himself.
During an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show on Friday, Niemi said, "He was imploding pretty badly... It was very difficult. I didn't think he would live through it, frankly.
"I didn't want to be there to watch him die. Not like that."
The pair reconciled and Swayze beat his alcohol addiction.
Niemi adds, "We got back together and it was still tough. We luckily had a moment where we walked through the door with a willingness to love each other."
The actor lost his battle with cancer in September at the age of 57. »

Patrick Swayze's grieving widow Lisa Niemi wishes she had expressed her love for the late actor more frequently during their 34-year romance.
The dancer is still struggling to come to terms with the death of Swayze, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in September, and she has one big regret about their time together.
She tells People magazine, "I've spent two thirds of my life with him. My regret is that I didn't tell him that I loved him enough over that entire 34 years."
Niemi opened up about her grief this week for the first time since the Ghost star's passing, admitting she is finding it hard to move on from his tragic death.
She said, "In the first few days afterward, because Patrick and I had been so connected and I spent so much of his illness just absolutely devoting myself to him 150 per cent, the most courageous thought that I had was that I wanted to, at some point, feel like I had the courage to go on and have a good life. And in the first few days (after his death), I felt like that would almost be a betrayal... That I would be letting him down somehow. It's a brutal truth that you have to go on without that person, but unfortunately, that's what happens in life."
But Niemi sure she'll be reunited with her husband in another lifetime: "I've spent two thirds of my life with him. And part of me believes that I will see him again. I'm just going to have to go on until then." »

Patrick Swayze's widow Lisa Niemi is finding it hard to move on following her husband's tragic death - because she feels it would be a "betrayal."
Niemi, who was married to the star for 34 years, stood by Swayze when he diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008 and admits during his struggle she resigned herself to the fact the actor was going to die.
But the 53 year old reveals when the Ghost star passed away in September, she wasn't prepared to lose him.
Speaking at the Women's Conference 2009 in Long Beach, California on Tuesday, she told the audience, "I thought during the 22 months of my husband's illness that it gave me all this time to get used to the idea of losing him. And I found for myself, when I actually got to that point, I said, 'N-n-n-n-n-No.' It wasn't the same at all.
"The actual loss - it's like an animal all of its own. It made all the sadness and grief previous to that look like an intellectual concept. This sadness was on a cellular level. You hear all these stories about men who die months after their wives and things like that. I can absolutely see how that could happen because... when the grief (sets in), your body's not your own."
And Niemi is struggling to cope with the mixed emotions following his passing - because it feels like a "betrayal" for her to move on with her own life.
She adds, "In the first few days afterward, because Patrick and I had been so connected and I spent so much of his illness just absolutely devoting myself to him 150 per cent, the most courageous thought that I had was that I wanted to, at some point, feel like I had the courage to go on and have a good life. It's a brutal truth that you have to go on without that person, but unfortunately, that's what happens in life."
But Niemi is convinced she will be reunited with her husband one day: "I've spent two thirds of my life with him. And part of me believes that I will see him again. I'm just going to have to go on until then." »

Comedienne Tina Fey cornered Whoopi Goldberg on U.S. TV on Thursday to entice her back onto hit comedy 30 Rock.
Fey made an appearance on The View, the talk show the Ghost star co-hosts, and presented the idea to a surprised Goldberg.
The Oscar winner previously made a cameo on 30 Rock in 2007, and Fey is so keen to have her return to the programme, she's already written the script for Goldberg's next guest spot.
Fey said, "Who we're hoping to get back on the show this year is Whoopi. There's a spot for you if you wanna come back? I'm putting the pressure on you on live TV!
"There's an episode coming up where (main character) Tracy (Morgan) wants to win an Egot, which is an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony (award) and Whoopi has done that in real life so he's seeking your advice in how to do that."
Goldberg, who was taken aback by the offer, admitted she'd welcome negotiations, responding, "Well, let's make some time and talk."
Goldberg is one of only 10 Hollywood stars who have achieved all four top accolades throughout their career - others include Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks and John Gielgud. »
