A surprisingly cool network TV movie about teens stranded on an island.

Originally aired on NBC in 1990 and rerun the next season, "Exile" seems to have dropped off the face of the Earth whereas most other made-for-TV movies, mostly of the women-in-jeopardy genre, live forever on cable.

Teenagers from various Los Angeles high schools participate in a travel study group called "E.X.I.L.E.". Before reaching their western Pacific destination, the chartered plane crashes near an uncharted island. They do what they can to organize themselves and survive while waiting for help, and encounter many dangers.

At the time, this movie was touted as a Corey Feldman vehicle, and he plays the outcast role. Australian actor Michael Preston from "The Road Warrior" is the mysterious charter plane pilot. The cast also includes Kristin Dattilo-Hayward, best known for playing "Janie" in Aerosmith's "Janie's Got a Gun" video, as well as monkey-feeding Chris Furrh who appeared in the 1990 remake of the stranded-on-an-isle classic "Lord of the Flies" at about the same time "Exile" was released.

One unique refreshing thing about "Exile" is that it's ending is not like most movies of this genre.
