Factual errors: In the beginning of the movie they can't get the lights in the house to work. Someone suggests that they have to call "Con Edison". If the movie takes place in Amityville, Long Island they should be calling "LILCO". LILCO (Long Island Lighting Company) services Long Island. Con Edison services New York City. moreSoundtrack:

Yet another family, actually a group of friends this time, fall prey to supernatural occurrences, when they move into a run down old house where a Priest had been murdered there a year prior & soon one of them has hideous nightmares about the place & about something attempting to get them all. Fifth film in the never ending Amityville series (And the last to do with an actual possessed house, before we got into the whole cursed objects bit that followed in the later sequels) is certainly not the worst film I've seen, (believe me folks there are worse movies out there!) but it ain't the best I've seen either, a lot of the problem is that unless I'm mistaken, they seem to be trying to pass off the notion that this house is the original Amityville house or at least trying to pass it off that this house was built on the same lot, but in all honesty it has very little to do with the previous 4 films & is the only one in the series that does not feature the actual house. The make-up effects weren't to bad, but the film never gets interesting & just chugs along at a slow pace. Fans of the series may like it, but one thing is for sure this is definitely the weakest in the series! Followed by a sequel, AMITYVILLE 1992: IT'S ABOUT TIME
