Trivia:
This movie was part of a wave in the late 80's/early 90's to introduce wide screen letterbox movies to the general public. The first printing of the VHS are all in letterbox. (re-prints from 1994 claim to be in wide screen but are pan & scan). (Ghostbusters II (1989) was another big title movie released in letterbox only in the first printing, many video stores got complaints about these titles because customer's thought that there was half of the picture missing, many video store owners called RCA/Columbia to find out if there was a printing problem to only be told that they were meant to be this way.) more
Goofs:
Anachronisms: If the movie is supposed to be based 1 year after the original Karate Kid, that would make it 1985. The body style Mustang GT driven by Barnes and his friends wasn't produced until 1987. more
Quotes:
Terry Silver: There you are.
Daniel Larusso: Yeah. I had to do some thinking.
Terry Silver: And?
Daniel Larusso: I decided not to fight in the tournament this year. I figured that's the least of respect I owe you. Just to let you know.
Terry Silver: You owe me alot more than that, Danny-boy.
Daniel Larusso: Oh, I can have the payment for the lessons in a couple of weeks. I just need to get the money.
Terry Silver: No money. You're getting in that ring and fighting the tournament. That will be how you pay for the lessons.
Daniel Larusso: Wait. Mr. Silver, you can't make me do anything I don't want to do.
Terry Silver: [laughs] Danny, Danny. Since the moment I met you, I've been making you do things you don't want to do.
Daniel Larusso: [confused] What do you mean?

Ralph Chunkio, but a great movie., 24 February 2008
9/10
Author: chrisruleshughes from United Kingdom

OK, it's obviously been at least two years between karate kid 2 and 3, so why on earth does the director feel the need to make it look like Daniel is coming back from Okinawa, when it's clear for everyone to see the difference, he's aged, he's got more flip, and yes, the actor has got fatter. Have you seen his chubby cheeks? All of this aside, the movie is very good i feel. Thomas Ian Griffith's performance is classic, threatening, but very funny. The conflict between teacher and student becomes a tad boring though, plus the little sweet love story between Danial and the tree girl is insulting, we have seen this in the first two movies, forget it,move on.

This is way better than the second, and has some better moments than the 1st. It's the most comical if you like that sinister style.
