Following cancellation by NBC in the United States, the British broadcaster LWT (now part of ITV plc) stepped in to help save the program. At that time it had aided the ITV network (of which LWT was part) to regain the ratings war from the BBC in its time slot.

I still can´t believe that Baywatch lasted more than a decade on television. The acting was poor, the plot was worse and David Hasselhoff well is David Hasselhoff but the show wasn´t always bad. The first series pre-Pamela Anderson were pretty good and had some great shows and there was only one babe and that was Erika Elenak who has since become a bit of a cult star. Then came 1991 or 92 and suddenly the show became the no.1 show in several countries. Pamela Anderson , Nicole Eggert, Alexandra Paul and several others were added to the cast and many had to go. In few years the show was okay but a bit silly but it was still watchable and of course the bodies were hot. Then in the mid-90´s something happened and the show was becoming more and more unbelievable. Nicole Eggerts quits and Yasmine Bleeth comes in as Alexandra Paul´s sister. And then numerous of other chicks add in several years later but they never managed to overshadow Yahsmine and Pamela who were in my humble opinion the star of the show from 94 - 97. Then when they quit the show something happened and many people stopped watching the show. Carmen Electra and several others appeared but just when they had been there for some time they were gone.

then in 1999 or 2000 David Hasselhoff stopped being the star of the show and suddenly Baywatch was now called Baywatch Hawai and very few people were interested. The show was rather silly with Jason Brooks as the lead male character. The show wasn´t succesful and in 2001 Baywatch was cancelled. Why. It should have been cancelled in 1995.
