Trivia:
The elderly man in the waiting room who talks on and on about the Pony Express is Bryon P. Caunar, an 89-year-old local who was in the waiting room when the crew arrived to film there. He got to talking on his favorite subject, the Pony Express, and director Barry Levinson got such a kick out of it that he let Caunar keep on talking as the cameras rolled; all his dialog was spontaneous and not scripted. more
Goofs:
Errors in geography: From the time they left the farmhouse in western Oklahoma, they supposedly passed some country with mountains in the background (west) between there and Amarillo, Texas. There are no mountains in that part of western Oklahoma (though some small ones exist farther south near Lawton and Altus) - and the nearest "mountain" on that route would be Tucumcari Mountain. more

When something's engraved on one's memory (that false name in a child's memory -- Raymond vs. RainMen), willingly or otherwise, one'd just have to open up, or one choose to open up eventually! - - beyond bond, beyond relationship or blood, it's one realizing him/herself, one accepting the truth and everything not anticipated! - - things change! for good for bad, that's life! -- an absolutely beautiful and sad story - slowly evolving, the magic of it was within the progression of the story, yet the ending was nothing but sadly usual, predictable -- when legal business' got involved - that makes a full story doesn't it?! Following the story, that just realistically mean the end of many other things -- like this magic beautiful story!
