• Factual errors: In the final play of the Sugar Bowl, when Lawrence laterals the ball to Gavin, it is actually an illegal forward pass. Lawrence throws the ball at his own 48 yard line and Gavin catches it right at the 50 yard line. The touchdown that he scores would have been called back due to the penalty.
  
  
• Factual errors: When Babs is getting the bad news about their financial situation, the man on the phone says that the "County Assessor" has placed a lien on their account. In Louisiana, the "counties" are called parishes. The man should have referred to the "Parish Assessor".
  
  
• Anachronisms: During the black and white footage of the 1955 Sugar Bowl (as seen in flashback and newsreel footage and stated specifically as 1955 footage by the accompanying voice-over) a 1957 Sugar Bowl graphic design adorns the midfield.
