Ivan Rogers originally wrote the screenplay as "No Way Out". Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation had already used the title (for Sidney Poitier's debut, No Way Out (1950)) and in a letter dated 20 May 1986 said that it was not prepared to grant a waiver for the use of the title. The following year, Orion Pictures produced No Way Out (1987) starring Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman.

Ivan Rogers is insane, out of control, and down right ridiculous as the "Crazed Cop". Detective Joe Weeks will punish and humiliate you with his fists of fury. Ivan Rogers makes Steven Seagal look like a wimpy, sissy, fancy-boy. In 1972 he began studying karate in his spare time, eventually achieving the level of second-degree black belt. Ivan Rogers is a real karate and self-defense expert, unlike Steven Segal who is a weak, no-muscle fake-phony, and a big bag of wind.
