TERROR NIGHT (aka BLOODY MOVIE) is one of the better late 80s slasher flicks that shows both spark and originality. The story of a late 1920s silent film star Lance Haywood and the big news that his estate is being demolished. Sometime in the early 30s, Haywood disappears from Hollywood and buys the rights to all his films. He surfaces once since his retirement and then never to be seen again. A group of curious teens and a duo biker couple all decide to explore his estate on its last night of existence. But is someone still occupying Haywood's estate? Could it be Haywood who if still alive would be well into his 90s or is it the ghost of a silent movie star?

Great premise and good acting as well as cameos from some of Hollywood's former finest such as Alan Hale, Aldo Ray and Daniel Haggerty make for a cool low-budget flick. I imported this film recently from the States only because I knew that ex-pornstar Jamie Summers makes her first legit film appearance which was exciting, because I always thought she was beautiful and talented, and only hoped she would pursue a career in mainstream films. Summers (billed under her real name Denise Stafford) shines in her role as the naive funloving Sherry and really could have been a great scream queen. The dialogue in the film is not as corny as you would expect it to be, and the director cleverly splices in scenes from real silent movies in relation to the death scenes, for example a clip from ROBIN HOOD would be shown with the normal film footage if the killer is using a bow and arrow as his murder weapon. Shows spark and originality, and I cannot stress enough how impressed I was at Jamie Summers' acting and performance all round. Hopefully this film's re-release will find it a new generation of fans that it didn't find in its day due to the fact that I don't think it had much of a release back then. Recommended to horror fans.
