SCARY MOVIES

spoofing the horror genre, long before Scary Movie

For some reason, this remains one of my favorite 80's "horror movies" although it isn't a "pure" horror movie, it's more of a spoof or a take-off than anything else. There are a lot of B-movie types in it, and even George Clooney? Bet he wants this OFF his resume but it's probably better than anything ELSE he's done. A film crew goes to Crippen High, the site of some murders a few years ago, to film a horror movie. Sometimes one is not sure if they're watching the "movie" movie or the movie that's being filmed, and that's part of the fun of it, especially when Alex Rocco (as the director) sticks his head into an "almost" heavy petting scene. But there's terror afoot here, there's something stalking the halls of the old high school and WHO COULD IT BE? OK, so this is a bit stupid at times but it's GOOD stupid, it's INTENTIONALLY stupid (it is, isn't it?) but there is enough tinge of horror here to make this intriguing. By no means would anyone call this a great movie but I have seen it plenty of times yet still enjoy it. Well worth a look but watch it only if you enjoy a sense of fun in your horror.
