• Continuity: When Amanda Hunsaker is falling, she looks like she is going to hit the windscreen of the car, and yet ends up in the middle of the roof.
  
  
• Continuity: The amount of Riggs' hotdog that he has eaten.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: The car that Roger is driving has the shifter in "park".
  
  

• Continuity: In an early scene with Roger driving (post hot-dog), the steering wheel is noticeably turned - you can see one wheel pillar and the bolt on the back of it. In the next shot, the wheel is properly aligned. He is not turning the car in either shot.
  
  
• Continuity: When Riggs and the businessman leap off the building, the handcuffs come apart while they are in mid-air for obvious safety reasons.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: While chasing Mr. Joshua on foot, smoke blasts can be seen coming from Riggs' machine gun, yet no sound is heard.
  
  
• Continuity: When Murtaugh and Riggs arrive in the desert, supposedly at sunrise, to get Rianne back, the 'copter and the white limo are filmed at sunrise or sunset, low low sun. When the 'copter lands a few seconds later it is noon, sun at 60 degrees.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Riggs starts to chase after Joshua you can clearly see an obvious stunt man jumping on top of a car.
  
  
• Continuity: At least in the Director's Take Edition, the photos in a double frame in Riggs' trailer switch positions and are also in a new frame
  
  
• Continuity: When Riggs visits his wife's grave, it is heavily raining, yet in a close-up view, no water is dripping off his chin like it was seconds before nor is there any rain fall.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Riggs shoots at Mr. Joshua's car from the bridge there is a flash of the car hitting a telephone pole in which you can see the camera crew with tripod and boom mic visible.
  
  
• Continuity: Length of Riggs' cigarette when he gets out of bed.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Dixie's house gets blown up, Roger starts trying to put out Riggs' coat. It is not on fire. He continues to try to put out the fire that isn't there. Then, when asked by Riggs if he is a fag, he claims that the coat is on fire. Riggs takes off the coat and throws it down. There is no fire on the coat or near them, nor is any smoke coming off the coat.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: Reflected in Riggs' sunglasses just before Dixie's house explodes.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: In the scene with Dixie's house exploding throughout the scene after Riggs takes his jacket off. Which is supposedly burning. You can see the yellow prop sticker on Riggs' gun. When they walk to the car right after the explosion and later when Dixie's body is being taken out.
  
  
• Continuity: In the shooting range, Murtaugh clips a new silhouette in the movable target. It is crooked in the clamp. After Murtaugh takes his single shot, and holds the button to bring the target in again, the silhouette is straight.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: In the Director's Cut DVD, the scene in which Riggs bravely puts himself into the line of fire of a sniper shooting at kids in a school yard, you can see Mel Gibson sneaking a look down at the pavement to find his mark as he's walking forward before shooting the sniper. After he's shot the sniper and bends over to pick up his empty clip, the mark can be briefly seen on the bottom of the screen.
  
  
• Continuity: At Murtaugh's birthday celebration, Nick's t-shirt arm and left side are already wet from previous takes.
  
  
• Continuity: In the desert, the door on Murtaugh's car is slightly open. When the chopper arrives, the door is blown fully open, but in the next shot it is closed again.
  
  
• Continuity: Just before Murtaugh opens the package with Amanda's yearbook and video he grabs a beer from the fridge and opens it. He then opens the beer again after closing the door to the fridge.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When Riggs and Murtaugh shoot Joshua after he overpowers the cops trying to arrest him, the slide (top half of an automatic pistol that moves backward when the gun is fired) on Riggs' Beretta doesn't move.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Murtaugh drives up to the site where Amanda Hunsaker has landed, there is a man in the back seat visible in the rear-view mirror.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: After getting hotdogs, while Riggs are Murtagh are getting into their car, passengers in vehicles on the road are staring at the camera watching the scene being filmed.
  
  
• Continuity: When Murtaugh challenges Riggs to shoot himself (after the jumper scene), Riggs cocks the revolver before pointing it at his head. While they are staring each other out, the camera cuts to a close-up of a revolver which shows the hammer moving through half-cock by pulling on the trigger.
  
  
• Factual errors: Riggs continually references a "hollow-point" bullet when talking about his suicide plan, yet he is clearly holding a bullet with a full metal jacket both times it is shown.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: In the wide shot of the bus hitting McAllister's car, you can see that the bus driver is a mannequin.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: During the Christmas tree/drugs deal fight scene, camera shadows are visible during close-ups.
  
  
• Continuity: In the desert sequence when Rianne is driving the Limo, the blood and bullet hole continually switch locations on the windscreen.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Mr. Joshua orders the helicopter pilot to chase Rianne through the desert, you hear the words "Go get the girl, the girl." However, reading his lips, he does not actually say those words.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: When Riggs is sitting on the couch watching Bugs Bunny you can see the camera man pass behind the couch.
  
  
• Continuity: When Joshua is in the helicopter talking to McAllister, the copter is show flying with the sun already set and the clouds are highlighted by the setting sun, but when you see McAllister the sun is still low in the sky, but not set. They switch back and forth between Helicopter and Rv yet two different sun locations
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: As Murtaugh and Riggs pull up to Murtaugh's house after realizing Rianne has been kidnapped, tracks of the camera truck in front of Murtaugh's car are clearly visible in the wet street.
  
  
• Crew or equipment visible: During the scene in which Riggs is shooting the "smiley face", the yellow prop sticker can clearly be seen as Riggs loads a magazine into his handgun.
  
  
• Audio/visual unsynchronized: During the final chase scene between Riggs and Joshua, Riggs is carrying an HK MP5 submachine gun while Joshua has a CAR-15/M-4 type rifle. In this scene, both weapons have the same firing sound effect, which is not the case in real life as the CAR-15/M-4 has a lower cyclic rate and fires a different round.
  
  
• Continuity: When Riggs and Murtaugh dive into the pool, Riggs has been and is wearing boots. When he climbs out, he's in his socks. But, he never took off his boots.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When McAllister's car is flipped by the bus, the hole in the floorboard for shooting out the section of telephone pole used to flip the car can be seen. The section of pole can be seen rolling down the street as the car is flipping over.
  
  
• Continuity: When Rodge and Briggs are at the firing range Rodge puts his target out for the second time crooked but when he fires at it and when it returns towards the men it is straight again.
  
  
• Continuity: When Riggs jumps off the building after handcuffing himself to the jumper, a close up shot just after they step off the ledge shows each man has a hand cuff on, but the handcuffs are not connected. When they get out of the air bag, they have connected handcuffs again.
  
  
• Continuity: When Riggs is chained up, being tortured by Endo, he is barefoot. He is still barefoot when he gets off of the chain after killing Endo and as he goes to rescue Rianne and Murtaugh, we never see him stop to put on shoes, though he does grab his shirt. As they move through the club and then out onto the street chasing Joshua, suddenly Riggs has a pair of white sneakers on.
  
  
• Revealing mistakes: When the women jumps off the balcony, you can see her hit a large cushion that has the car and parking lot painted on it. If you slow it down, you can just see the impression in the cushion she makes before they cut to the shot inside the car of the roof caving in.
  
  
• Continuity: The license plate on Riggs' and Murtaugh's car changes from E641985 to what appears to be 2GTE674.
  
  
• Continuity: When Martin and Roger go to the shooting range, we see them walking behind the other shooting officers and arrive at their assigned booth, all the while discussing the merits of the case they are working on. While working out their theory, Martin begins shooting at his target, firing a total of 9 shots over the course of the conversation. However, after he fires his last round, he remotely brings in his target, where we see 15 bullet holes.
  
  

• Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: Just before Amanda Hunsaker is about to end up on the roof of the car, careful viewers can easily see that what she actually falls to is a big inflated bed with the car's picture on it. This is visible only for about half a second.
