A Slut in Wife's Clothing, 31 March 2003
Author: gwithers from USA

I was extremely disappointed over this slow-moving yawner of a movie. I love Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward but I hated this movie!

The only likeable character is the husband but he is such a selfless wimp we soon lose sympathy for him. What kind of man lets his wife sleep with his brother? That incident alone should have been a warning to him that his wife wasn't all she pretended to be.

I'm used to seeing Rachel Ward in roles where she is in control of herself and she is the one being sought after and desired. With her good looks and strong personality those types of roles suit her best. To see her humiliating herself chasing after a sleazy, womanizing bartender, who made it clear that he had no use for her, was sickening.

What was this woman's problem? She had a great husband who really loved her and she could do whatever she wanted. She had a comfortable lifestyle and even a career of sorts as a midwife. I think she was a slut at heart. First her husband's younger brother, and then whomever else she fancied. She couldn't believe that the bartender didn't want to sleep with her. She was so used to having her way and never being told no, she couldn't deal with it. She was a spoiled, selfish adulteress. Why the husband wanted her back is beyond me. He deserved way better than this shallow tramp.
