This overlooked gem was on TV again recently. One of Nolte's best performances, and Boothe and Ironside chew up every scene they're in. Clearly influenced by THE WILD BUNCH and LONE WOLF MCQUADE, among others. Dare I suggest this may even be a comic retooling of THE WILD BUNCH? Considering the director (a non-nonsense type if ever there was one), the truth is that it probably is not, but at times it feels to me like a sendup as much as an homage to Peckinpaugh. Keep any eye out for it. And catch Nolte's hat!!!!
