After the second season, a spin-off was planned titled "City Court". The intention was to follow the Jump Street cases through the court system. A two-hour pilot was planned in which Tom Hanson is put on trial for murder. But because of the 1988 writer's strike, the series was never produced. The storyline featuring Hanson's murder trial was later used for the third season finale.

Goofs:
Incorrectly regarded as goofs: Throughout the first season Hansen repeatedly says "tail" when his mouth obviously says "ass." This was a post-production change in response to network censorship, who thought the word "ass" was inappropriate.

This television series held its own. I remember waiting patiently for the next episode to air when I was 13 and loving every second of it. Call it contrived and superficial, but I grew up with Judy Hoffs, Tom Hansen, Doug Penhall, Harry Ioki, Adam Fuller, and Dennis Booker....and I loved every second of it! Johnny Depp might renounce the fact that he was ever connected with this show, but it provided hours of entertainment for many individuals. For me, it is a reminder of a time in my youth where I was completely innocent.
