Whoever said "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch" obviously never worked in the movie business, because there certainly is such a thing as a free lunch, as I've experienced on many occasions. The best part about these free lunches is, usually, you get to have them with actors or directors or other movie folk, which is exactly what happened when I went down to the Paramount lot for a press lunch with some of the folks that brought us Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood and Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Both of these films - the last of the series that Paramount produced - are being released in new Deluxe Editions on September 15 and I was invited down to the Paramount lot for a lunch with actors Kane Hodder, who played Jason Voorhes in both films, Vc Dupree, who played the

Today I had the opportunity to join a select group of journalists and Friday the 13th actors Kane Hodder and Vincent Craig Dupree, and Friday the 13th Part VII director Carl Buechler, for lunch at Paramount Pictures here in La, in celebration of the terrific-looking special edition DVDs for Parts VII and VIII. While we were there, Buechler said a few words about his plans for the upcoming remake of his Troll. Hit the jump to read what he had to say.
"I'm getting ready to remake a film that I did back in 1985. It's been a quest to get where I'm at, but I'm moving ahead November 1 on the picture, and we're going to start shooting in February. It's going to be here. It may be in Baton Rouge. I'm not

If you thought the remake of Troll was dead, think again. John Carl Buechler, director of the '86 film, assures us the project is still on the move and he's still at the helm.
"It's been a quest to get where I'm at, but I'm actually moving ahead November 1st on the picture," he told the press this afternoon. "We.re going to start shooting in February. It's going to be [here in the States], it may be Baton Rouge. There are a lot of reasons to be in town. Parts of it shoot in San Francisco, and I want to shoot in San Francisco this time instead of Italy, with weird matte paintings."
The original film, starring Michael Moriarty, Noah Hathaway (as a character named Harry Potter) and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, told of a troll king and his quest to find a ring

Fango heard from William Butler and Gage Munster, writer/director and FX artist respectively of Demonic Toys 2: Personal Demons, who just returned from the shoot in Italy and sent the exclusive photos seen below. The movie was lensed in Charles Band’s personal castle (also the site of such memorable flicks as Castle Freak and The Pit And The Pendulum), where the spooky atmosphere was both a blessing and a bit of a “curse.”
“The shoot went amazing,” Butler tells Fango. “This was the first time I had shot in Italy since back when I was an effects supervisor on old Empire films like Robot Jox, Arena, Dolls and Troll. I had remarkable experiences working on those with Irwin and Frank Yablans, Stuart Gordon, Yvonne DeCarlo, Viggo Mortensen, Lance Henriksen—and of course, who could forget Sonny Bono?” It seems he can add Demonic Toys to his list of fond memories.

Troll 2 is a low budget Italian horror movie devoid of most attributes that are normally associated with good film making. The title is designed to capitalize on an unrelated film, John Buechler’s Troll. In spite of being having the word troll in the title, there movies features no trolls. Characters utter random or obvious statements that stop the film dead in its tracks. Scenes occur with no discernible relationship to the overall narrative. Every single performance from the leads down to the extras in rubber masks and potato sacks is awkward. The lowly costumes, which were designed by Laura Gemser (Black Emmanuelle) are as ugly as their creator is beautiful. All of these elements add up to a goofy movie that has gained a large cult audience through video, late night cable and more recently, a series of well-attended screenings throughout the United States. This swell of fan
