Trivia:
The bar set was auctioned off after filming was done. It was part of the namesake for and actual bar of a German restaurant called "Haus Murphy" in Glendale, Arizona, until the restaurant moved to a new location down the street in late 2004. The bar wouldn't fit through the door of the new location and was sold to a private collector. moreGoofs:
Factual errors: Any experienced Bingo player knows that it would NOT have taken that many numbers for Emma to get a Bingo in the N's. Sally Field's character won the biggest jackpot of the night - normally, a special game (for example, forming the letter T) would have been played in order for her to win so much money. moreQuotes:
Murphy: I'm a widower. That's like catnip to a cat, in a town where the ladies outnumber you ten to one. moreSoundtrack:

Murphy's Romance is a great movie. My husband is not a big fan of Chick flicks and he loved it too. I think everyone should see it if they haven't already and I think there should be more films like this. I can't think of one that compares to it. I loved the setting in Arizona and the fact that she was working horses. You don't get too many films like this anymore. It was about starting over and finding love in an unexpected place. Sally Field and James Garner were spectacular. Murphy's Romance contained all the features a great film should possess. It was funny, yet serious and full of romance. It portrayed a mother and son who were close to one another. It was about making tough decisions and real life.
