Alone in the Dark: The Vortex Theater’s Haunted House

Remember those good ol’ fashioned haunted house picture shows from the 1950’s such as William Castle’s original House On Haunted Hill starring Vincent Price? The characters go to this spooky old house, spend the night, hope to survive the alleged spectral inhabitants, and, all the while, help Price deal with his sorted marital affairs. Well the new Haunted House experience held at Manhattan’s own Vortex Theater is nothing like that at all. Rather, it’s a great deal more interesting.

The Vortex Theater, located at 164 Eleventh Avenue and known for its stage performances which have included Agamemnon, H.M.S. Pinafore, and Kiss Of The Spider Woman to name a few, has most recently put together its latest  event, titled with basic elegance, Haunted House, just in time for Halloween.

Paul Schrader going to India

A year after reports emerged that Paul Schrader had abandoned Hollywood, the writer-director is going Bollywood.Schrader's latest film, "Xtrme City," is a collaboration with Bollywood writer Mushtaq Shiekh, creative director of Sahara One, with financing from former sports agent Dwight Manley.The film, which has a $10 million budget, will start casting soon, with Shiekh seeking A-list actors from India and the West.The film centers on a former U.S. ranger who joins forces with an Indian commando. The two must delve into the Mumbai underworld in order to rescue the ranger's sister-in-law, who's been kidnapped by a crime lord.According to Variety, Schrader and Shiekh are working with producers David Weisman ("Kiss of the Spider Woman") and Anubhav Sinha ("Dus") on the »
