The Fantasticks to Kick Off Long Wharf's 2009-10 Season Oct 7 - Nov 1

Long Wharf Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein and Managing Director Ray Cullom, will present the beloved musical The Fantasticks, directed by Amanda Dehnert, from October 7 through November 1, 2009, on the Mainstage.

Press night is Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m. Curtain times are Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Wednesdays at 2 and 7 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3p.m. and 8p.m., and Sundays at 2p.m. and 7p.m. Tickets are $30-$70.

"I have loved The Fantasticks since I was a little kid," said Artistic Director Gordon Edelstein. "This will be so much fun for the entire family."

Juan Rico/Fame Raising normal kids in abnormal circumstances is something most celebrity parents will struggle with at some point, but Jennifer Garner notes in a new interview that normal is a relative term.

Although she laments the lack of laws in place to protect the privacy of Violet Anne, 3 ½, and Seraphina Rose Elizabeth, 8 ½ months, she nonetheless believes they have enjoyed “a very normal upbringing.”

Who Knew I Was Suffering From Post Traumatic Stress Disorder? But It Explains A Lot...

In last week's column, I discussed Glee and how some of the characters felt as if they bordered a little close to being stereotypes. I said:

Created by out writer Ryan Murphy (Nip/Tuck) the show includes much for a good gay boy to love including an out gay character. And some of the musical numbers are flat out brilliant. But I thought the first half of the pilot was actually bad and some of the characterizations — sassy, chunky black girl, fashion-obsessed gay boy — sometimes veered too close to stereotypes. Much will depend on how those characters evolve and whether the writing holds up .
