Scott Highlands battles crime with a gun, and in a post gun ban episode a sock filled with quarters. This show was one of canada's first forays into US domestic television (one of them circa the time of RAY BRADBURY THEATRE on HBO) in response to MIAMI VICE we have a show complete with the funky sax song and cops battling crime with badges and guns. It was not a bad genre effort. The show paved the way for CBS CRIME TIME FOR PRIME TIME line up comprised of SILK STALKINGS (with an even more annnoying theme song)and a line of commonwealth sleuth shows. The show lacked the in depthness of a PRIME SUSPECT MINISERIES or EDGE OF DARKNESS but was as good as any equivelent non MTV inspired show of the same time frame. A good effort from a tv and film community bad that needs to EXPORT some action movies to get one up on hollywood, and come up with some sort of national action hero or film franchise. The canadians pride themselves on art house fare (ie. EXOTICA) this is perhaps one of their strong suits, they also focus on shows with substance, (non must se tv line ups) another strong suit. It wasn't until FOREVER NIGHT canada found it's niche on encroaching on the United States marketplace.
