Trivia:
Daryl Hannah a vegetarian, refused to eat real lobster for the restaurant scene. The crew scooped out the insides of real, cooked lobsters and filled them with a thick, tofu-like paste. In an interview for 'Biography (1990)', Director Ron Howard said Hannah cried after each take over the deaths of the lobsters for their shells.

Continuity: When Kornbluth climbs onto the boat after the hose is pinched off, a regulator is attached to his tank. When the scene cuts to him after he berates the idiot twins, the regulator is missing from the tank. His wetsuit is still wet, indicating that he has just left the water.

If you grew up in the 80's, you can see why this movie still is a great classic! Great acting from Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah and a story line that can be taken funny as well as seriously. If you didn't see this movie in the 80's you probably won't appreciate it that much. I would rank it with other greats such as Teen Wolf, Heathers, etc. "Behold, the mermaid!"..lol..
