Continuity: Burning debris on the hood of the truck as David drives through the barn.
Continuity: The talking alarm clock is still on the bedside table after David picks it up.
Anachronisms: Use of Vietnam-era M-151 jeeps and trucks in the World War II scenes.
Continuity: Dr. Longstreet is American in the 1943 scenes, but has acquired an English accent by the time 1984 rolls around. There's no indication that he lived in England all (or any) of the intervening years.
Continuity: When David and Allison are driving through the country, a Porsche comes up behind them which then disappears and reappears in subsequent shots.
Anachronisms: David and Jimmy's hairstyles are not characteristic of those found in the 1940s, particularly for Naval officers. This is also true for several of the other men seen during this time period in the film.
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the helicopter crashes they use footage from the end of shooting for the fire scene, hence a helicopter looks like a car and buildings on fire.
Revealing mistakes: When David and Allison are being chased from the Parker ranch, a vehicle flips, exposing the flipping device in two different shots.
Continuity: When David and Allison are going to the ranch, there is vehicle at the end of the route. When the angle of the camera changes, the vehicle is far away and then close up. (It occurs at 1:02:40 and 1:03:00 in the movie).
Crew or equipment visible: In the beginning of the car chase, in the barn, there are shadows of camera equipment visible at David and Alisons car. Later, out in the fields, the helicopter shadow is seen from time to time.
Anachronisms: As the Sailors are heading for the Naval Base in the beginning, they cross a Bridge. Modern day street lamps can be clearly seen.
Continuity: In the bar scene the night before the experiment takes place, David buys Pam a coke and himself a mug of beer. While sitting at the table, David picks up the mug of beer with his right hand on the barrel of the mug and takes a sip. In the next scene, hes putting the mug down and he has his hand on the handle instead of the barrel of the mug.
Continuity: In a front shot of Allison's car, the rear view mirror is missing, and you can see the spot where it should be attached to the windshield. When the scene switches to a rear shot of the vehicle driving away, the mirror can clearly be seen in the window.
Anachronisms: At the 1940s dance in the opening sequence the camera shot from under the hi-hat cymbals of the drum kit shows four holes in the bottom "Flat" cymbal. These type of hi-hat cymbals called: "Flathats" are made by the Zildjian Cymbal Company of the USA and were not available until the late 1970s.
Revealing mistakes: When David picks up Allison's talking clock in the motel room he presses the button repeatedly to hear the time. It states 12:46PM. Since it is after midnight it should be AM not PM.
Anachronisms: David and Jimmy don't know how to drive Allison's car, which has an automatic transmission, and they claim never to have heard of an "automatic" before. The first mass-produced automatic transmission was introduced by General Motors in 1939, two years before the United States entered World War II.
