Toronto Preps For The Next Big "Thing"

A prequel to director John Carpenter's 1981 horror feature "The Thing" is prepping for a production start in Toronto.
Shooting on the Universal monster feature begins in March through to June, set on the Norweigan Antarctic base that first encounters a shape-shifting 'thing' from another world.
Director is Matthijs van Heijningen Jr., from a screenplay by Eric "A Nightmare On Elm Street" Heisserer and Ronald D. "Battlestar Galactica" Moore.
Carpenter's "The Thing" adapted the 1938 "Astounding Magazine" 'novella' "Who Goes There", by author John W. Campbell Jr.
The short story was also the basis of the 1951 film "The Thing From Another World" from producer Howard Hawks.
Premise of the original story follows a group of scientific researchers, isolated in Antarctica, that discover an alien spaceship buried in the ice. The men unwittingly recover the alien pilot that can assume the shape, memories and personality of any living creature.

Ah, Harry Potter. Who doesn't love this intense, visually epic series? While some (cough, Order of the Phoenix, cough) have been less than satisfying for fans of the books (myself being one of them), others have been extraordinary (Prisoner of Azkaban for one). With The Deathly Hallows, there is a lot to look forward to. This is one of the lengthier books in the series (thus the two-part film split), and it's also one of the more comprehensive. A Prophet

Summary: Sent to prison, Malik El Djebena falls under the sway of a group of Corsicans who enforce their rule in the prison. As the 'missions' go by, he toughens himself and wins their confidence but uses his intelligence to discreetly develop his own network.
Analysis: Finally scoring a limited release in the Us in February, Jacques Audiard's violent and hard-edged prison drama won the Grand Prix at Cannes, scored Best Film at the London Film Festival, and is already the hotly tipped favourite to take the Oscar for Best Foreign Film late next month.

It's no secret. Studios are leaning towards remaking horror movies. Now by reading those sentences you should be able to immediately tell that we here at HorrorBid are Evil Dead fans. Much of our humor is inspired from countless hours of watching Bruce Campbell deliver classic Sam Raimi lines in our beloved cult franchise. We even refer to our members as 'Bidites...
For years now we have heard rumors, news, stories, interviews and outright admissions by Sam and Bruce themselves that an Evil Dead remake was not only being talked about but was going forward. On top of that our fearless Spidey director, heels off of the success of his return to the horror genre with Drag Me To Hell, said Evil Dead 4 was going to happen and that the chinned warrior Bruce Campbell would be reprising his role as Ash to battle the Deadites for one last time.
