The end of the movie promises "Doctor Detroit II, the Wrath of Mom" which was in the works. In fact, Dan Aykroyd was writing the script. But when this movie became a box office dud the studio pulled the plug. moreQuotes:

There's something i really, really, REALLY hate about this movie... and that is that it's the ONLY one! (Insert bad words here.) Unfortunately, it's the ONLY Doctor Detroit movie there is. Although, at the very end, there was a teaser of a coming sequel, but sadly, it was only a gag spoofing Star Trek 2.
This is a movie where Aykroyd has a good time running around hamming it up to the max and does it so well. With an excellent supporting cast that enables the story to happen. The character of the baddie, Mom, was a real hoot and a half and twice as inane.
Well done silliness with some catchy tunes.
"DocTOR... Ooo ooo... DocTOR... Dee-TROIT! DocTOR... Ooo ooo... DocTOR... Dee-TROIT!"
Actually worth watching? If you're in the mood for some laughs, definitely. There's some choice absurdity here.
One dead hoof up from me for being such a ridiculous movie. But one dead hoof down for the fact that Doctor Detroit never, ever appeared again in a movie. The character of the not-so-good Doctor was such a gas, another couple of movies with the Doc would have been well appreciated. Oh well, at least we have at least this one movie.
"DocTOR... Ooo ooo... DocTOR... Dee-TROIT! DocTOR... Ooo ooo... DocTOR... Dee-TROIT!"
