Although this film takes place at the Amityville House, it is not a sequel to The Amityville Horror (1979) or Amityville II: The Possession (1982). The events in the first two films were supposedly "real".
Originally filmed in 3-D. As of 2006, the only commercial 3-D release is on the UK released Region 2 PAL Collector's Edition DVD.
