Trivia:
According to the trading cards of the series, Inspector Gadget is said to have 14,000 gadgets in his body. Other facts include that Inspector Gadget works for INTERPOL (International Police) on world wide missions and became the famous police inspector as a result of chasing a villain (whom fans believed to be Dr. Claw), slipped on a banana peel and fell many flights of stairs.

As a kid in high school back in the early 1980's,I used to watch this show all the time, and it was the coolest shows around. And the catchy theme song? Well, during its run,the song became a smash hit record for rappers Doug E. Fresh and the Get Fresh Crew back in the day. You can hear it nowadays and the theme just comes out. However,as for the cartoon version of this(NOT the Matthew Broderick version, which sucked!) it was no more less than a animated version of Don Adams' 1960's series "Get Smart"(which he was the voice of Gadget) with a hint of Inspector Closeau from the Pink Panther films and James Bond for the 1980's. Here, you have a Gadget fighting the forces of evil from the diabotical Dr. Claw, and with the help of his niece Penny and his dog Brain(think of it as Penny in the Barbara Feldon role, and the dog Brain in the "Fang' role, and the boss in the Ed Platt role as the chief of police mixed in with the hand of Dr. Claw, which was ONLY shown in the cartoon, but was always at the end getting away in a rocket saying,"I'll get you next time Gadget, next time"). Basically, this was "Get Smart" as an animated cartoon. Catch the episodes on Cartoon Network or on the Boomerang Channel.
