I saw this one when it came out in France, after "Maniac", and loved it. Now, the "seventies" look of the movie remains dated, but this one has kept part of the nastiness of Blaxploitation movies as well as the urban esthetics of "Dirty Harry". This is not Bronson-like stuff, since the "Vigilantes" doesn't seem to enjoy violence at all - they just do what seems to be right, even if they know it's wrong (Fred Williamson's magnificent, ambiguous attitude seems to sum it all - this is perhaps his best role.) And when it comes to action, Lustig delivers. Compare this one to Hollywoodian self-righteous, fascist dreck like Schlesinger's "Eye for an eye"
