Brief Glimpse At The Tron: Legacy Video Game

Spike TV's newest promotional spot for their upcoming video game awards is all about Tron. Producr Steven Lisberger gave me the exclusive scoop on a Tron: Legacy video game being in the works back in September but there haven't been any screenshots or footage shown since. It looks like we'll be getting at least a glimpse of what the upcoming game will look like. If you ever played Tron 2.0 for the PC, you'll probably be familiar with how the game will more than likely look, with updated graphics, etc. etc. etc. This new game, which will probably be for every system But the PC (we PC guys have been getting the shaft lately) looks pretty cool. Not sure what stage of development they're in, when it's supposed to come out (details that I'm sure will be announced at the show) or the type of gameplay, but if it's anything like Tron 2.0, »

A Very Brief Sneak Peek at the Upcoming Tron Video Game

In preparation for their annual Video Game Awards, Spike TV has put up a quick glimpse of the trailer for the new Tron video game.  The game is currently set to release sometime in 2010 to coincide with the release Tron Legacy, the long-awaited sequel to the 1982 sci-fi flick Tron.  The original film was about a video game designer named Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) getting downloaded into his company’s mainframe and having to fight his way back to the real world by defeating the Master Control Program.  The sequel takes place in 2010 where Flynn’s son, Sam (Garrett Hedlund) is searching for his missing father.  The original Tron also inspired a video game, which was released in arcades in 1982.  For our younger readers, arcades were rooms which were devoted to video games and you put in quarters if you wanted to continue playing.  No one used the term “pwned” and »

Olivia Wilde Discusses Fix and Tron: Legacy

Actress Olivia Wilde has been padding her resume with a wide variety of projects lately, from the popular TV drama House to the horror film Turistas to the slapstick period comedy Year One. Not only are her projects disparate in genre and tone, but in production size. Wilde's latest film, Fix, in which she co-stars with her real-life husband, actor-director Tao Ruspoli, was shot in only 18 days using a single camera. In contrast, Wilde recently acted alongside Jeff Bridges in Disney's upcoming Tron: Legacy, a movie that required several camera units, not to mention untold hours of computer graphics work.

In a recent interview with Moviefone, Wilde discussed working on a movie as close to home as Fix, which was inspired by an actual day in the lives of her husband and his brother, a heroin addict.

Uh Oh: Tron Legacy Writers to Script Ouija Movie

Tron Legacy is definitely on my list of most anticipated upcoming movies. I love the original Tron, and can’t wait to see a revitalized 3D version of that world with Jeff Bridges returning to the fold.

Here’s the short list of some movies that I’m less excited about: Battleship. Monopoly. Ouija.

Yes, it’s true: the writers of Tron Legacy (Adam Horowitz and Richard Jefferies) have been in talks with Platinum Dunes (who are breaking loose of the constraints of horror film remakes lately) to make a filmed adaptation of the Ouija board. I have no idea how talented Horowitz and Jeffries are (I’m hoping very), but it’s doubtful that they’ll make any use of the board scarier than a notable scene in Paranormal Activity.

Tron Legacy Producer Talks About the Impact of Technology

When a sequel to an effects-heavy movie is made 27 years after the original, it's assumed that the technological advances in effects would give the sequel a much different look — especially when it's arriving in 3-D and features "groundbreaking technology".

In a recent interview with GameRevolution, however, producer Sean Bailey explained that Tron Legacy won't stray far from the original design — until the action begins.

The great thing is that the design is relatively timeless, but the ability we had effects-wise, action-wise, the speed we can move the Light Cycles at — we thought we could deliver just an incredible ride, an action movie, a science-fiction movie. We have the benefit of all this great design. I'm pretty confident that for all ages, this is going to be a rock 'n' roll ride, here. It's going to be a lot of fun.

November 6th will see the release of the much anticipated The Men Who Stare at Goats. The film about an army battalion of “psychic spies” stars four Hollywood’s heavyweights: George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey, and Ewan McGregor.

Daft Punk Contributing More than Music to Tron: Legacy

According to actress Olivia Wilde, the dance duo known as Daft Punk will be doing double-duty on Tron: Legacy, appearing on camera, as well as scoring the soundtrack. In a recent interview with MTV Wilde said, "They were in the movie" and also mentioned that they might be helping to promote the remake of the 1982 classic Tron. There's some ideas in the works about how to incorporate them into a [San Diego] Comic-Con event.

Wilde recently admitted that filming Tron: Legacy was "the most difficult thing" she's ever done, comparing it to giving "birth to a 19-pound baby." Wilde would not — or could not — divulge much more about her character or the plot, but admitted that she did get to handle one of the iconic pieces of Tron hardware in the film, the Deadly Disc.

Daft Punk to Have a Cameo in 'Tron Legacy'

Daft Punk will contribute more than scoring the original music for "Tron Legacy" as their cameo appearance in the movie has been recently revealed. Bringing up the news to the surface was Olivia Wilde, who will be seen as Kevin's loyal confidant named Cora in the "Tron" sequel. To MTV News, she simply said, "They were in the movie."

Although revealing the cameo appearance, the depicter of Thirteen in "House M.D." didn't offer further details, especially on what role the duo known for their robot personas will take on. She did note, however, that Disney plans to feature them in future promotional efforts. She said, "There's some ideas in the works about how to incorporate them into a Comic-Con event."

Daft Punk likes to play dress up. The Euro electronica duo is basically never seen in public without spaceman helmets clamped to their heads. It's a look that would not be out of place in a sci-fi flick like, say, "Tron Legacy," Disney's mega-budget remake of the 1982 original about artificial intelligence, a computer-generated world and Jeff Bridges in a skin-tight neon suit.

And that's just where Daft Punk will be when the new "Tron" hits theaters in December 2010. MTV News has exclusively learned that the group will not only be scoring the film—as previously revealed—but that they will actually appearing in the movie itself.

Chris Wedge to Meet The Leaf Men

A little over two years after the project was originally announced, Fox Animation has recommitted to producing “Leaf Men,” Chris Wedge’s (”Ice Age,” “Robots”) latest animated movie. Based on an illustrated children’s book by William Joyce, “Leaf Men” centers on a group of bugs who turn to the mythical Leaf Men in order to save their garden from an evil spider queen. Tron: Legacy to Open in IMAX 3-D

Tron: Legacy opens in the crowded weekend of December 17, 2010, next to The Green Hornet and Yogi Bear, but the movie has one thing that will set it apart: Tron: Legacy will be released simultaneously in 2-D, 3-D, and IMAX 3-D. Yogi Bear is the only other 3-D movie opening that weekend, but no other movie is opening in IMAX 3D.

Legacy is Disney's third movie in a five-movie deal with IMAX, and IMAX chairman and president, Greg Foster, is excited about it.

We share a common goal with our partners at Disney, which is to transport people to places they normally can't go, and the world of Tron is certainly one of those cool places. Chris Wedge to Direct Leaf Men

According to Variety, Chris Wedge (Ice Age) is going to direct the animated Leaf Men for Fox. Wedge's Blue Sky Studios will be producing.

The film will be an adaptation of the William Joyce illustrated children's book "The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs." The script was written by Jim Hart.

Initially Leaf Men was set up at Fox then it wasn't. So Wedge took it to Pixar. Wedge has been close to Pixar's John Lasseter since they made Tron.

The deal with Disney and Pixar was thwarted when it turned out Fox wanted Wedge to make Leaf Men for them.

In the story of Leaf Men "a troop of bugs" do everything they can to save a garden from the wrath of an evil spider queen. With nowhere left to turn, the bugs ask the Leaf Men for help.

James Frain just finished up his run on Showtime's The Tudors - having his head chopped off definitely signified the end of his character's involvement with the series - but he's been keeping busy elsewhere. Tron Legacy Coming to IMAX 3D December 2010

Disney has announced that the upcoming Tron sequel, Tron Legacy, will debut in IMAX and IMAX 3D theaters the same day as the movie’s worldwide release (surprise), December 17, 2010. That means that you can see the crazy sort of CGI light cycle races and battles (which impressed most everyone I know who watched the Tron Legacy first trailer) in full IMAX 3D glory!

Now in about 98% of cases, I’m don’t go for the IMAX and/or 3D marketing gimmick option (ticket prices in my town are high enough as is - $12-13!), but Tron Legacy (so far) looks to be that rare 2% instance where I’m going to be reaching into my wallet for that extra $10.
