Anachronisms: Although the story is supposed to be set in 1974, we see a lot of 1982 cars. more
Quotes:
Mr. Booth, the Lawyer: [at the Montelli trial] ... Your Honor, it is my intention to prove that Sonny Montelli is a victim of demonic possession - that is, possession by the Devil - and therefore innocent of the charges placed against him.
Judge: Mr. Booth, I admire your originality. If I accept your plea, regardless of verdict, every courtroom in this country would be inundated with pleas of demonic possession. Nobody would be guilty of anything anymore. Quite literally, "The Devil made me do it." You have three days to submit another plea, Mr. Booth.

Better than the original, 28 March 2004
5/10

"Amityville II - The Possession" is actually better than the original. That one was plodding and cliche-ridden and in desperate need of an editing job. If you see it your fast forward button should be sufficient. "Amityville II" depicts events before those in the first film. A family of six moves into the demonic house and the oldest son becomes possessed by evil forces. Though not terribly inventive it is tightly paced, has some decent scares and competent special effects. The acting is appropriate to the material. But in the third act it degenerates into a rehash of "The Exorcist". It's more interesting than the later forgettable sequels. ** (of ****)
