When ABC canceled the series in 1985, CBS acquired it as an addition to its late-night schedule, broadcasting first-run episodes for the show's 1985-86 season. Production of the series officially stopped in the spring of 1986, but reruns continued to air on CBS's late-night slot until September of 1987.

Goofs:

Crew or equipment visible: If you look closely at the front grill of Hooker and Romano's car, there's always a square or circular part cut out, revealing the placement of a camera in the car for action shots.

The TV equivalent of Dirty Harry

T.J. Hooker reminds me of Dirty Harry in some respects. Like DH, Hooker is tough, especially on the bad guys. He's a no-nonsense cop, but at least he still has some sense of humor.

This is one of the most underrated cop shows. It may not be the best police drama ever made, but it has its moments. Plus, it's good to see William Shatner having success outside Star Trek. And this series shows that he could (and still can) do exactly that.
