  • The film is based loosely on the experience of making Blake Edwards' films Darling Lili (1970) and Wild Rovers (1971).

  • This was William Holden's last movie. Shortly after completing "S.O.B." he slipped and fell, cutting his head open and bleeding to death. He had been drinking heavily.

  • The barker was played by Paddy Stone, the choreographer of the film.

  • Robert Vaughn recently revealed on the "Ron & Fez" XM Satellite radio program that his character was based upon legendary film producer Robert Evans.

Trivia items below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • SPOILER: When Irving, Tim and Ben steal Felix's corpse, it's a take-off of a real-life incident in which film director Raoul Walsh "borrowed" John Barrymore's corpse after the funeral, and left it propped up in a chair for a drunken Errol Flynn to discover. This incident was referenced by Drew Barrymore, his granddaughter, in a 2006 episode of "Saturday Night Live" (1975).

  • SPOILER: The film is famously noted for showing Julie Andrews (wife of this movie's director, Blake Edwards and a star of family-oriented movies), topless.
