- Continuity: When Terri is walking back to the cabin to get a knife, her pants are untied at the waist. When she reaches the cabin, they are tied with a bow, yet when walks back to Scott, they are untied again.
- Boom mic visible: Shadow of the wire on the floor when Jason is in Ginny's cabin walking toward the cots.
- Revealing mistakes: During the prologue, the cat that jumps through the window scaring Alice was obviously thrown through the window by a crew member.
- Continuity: When Scott hits Terri in the rear with his slingshot, it hits on her right side, but she grabs the left side. Also in this scene, Scott winks at Terri after hitting her in the rear with the slingshot. You can see his right arm was up towards his chest, holding the slingshot. In the next shot when Terri turns to walk away and smile to herself, Scott's right arm is fully down by his side, still holding the slingshot in his right hand.
- Continuity: When Paul and Ginny return from the bar, Paul turns off the car and the windshield wipers are pointing straight up. Later when Ginny returns to the car, they are down.
- Continuity: When Paul and Ginny leave the bar, there is a missing parking light on the front left of the car. When they get back to camp the light has been replaced.
- Continuity: As Ginny hits Jason in the shoulder with the machete, in the first shot it catches part of his sack and is embedded diagonally. In the next shot, the blade is clear of the sack and the machete is now perfectly horizontal.
- Continuity: When Terri is undressing to go skinny-dipping, she changes out of her clothes and her hair is dry. In the very next shot, she is entering the water and her hair is moist and slicked back.
- Continuity: When Scott is dancing with Muffin, his shirt collar is up on the close-up shots, but changes to down in the shot through the window.
- Continuity: When Jason enters the cabin after killing Mark, you can see a plaid umbrella under a small table to the left of the doorway. When Vickie comes back from changing clothes, she is carrying that same umbrella.
- Audio/visual unsynchronized: During the bar segment, the band is playing an instrumental number, although in one shot the front man can be seen singing "silent" lyrics into his microphone.
- Continuity: After Jason tears through the hood of Ginny's car with the pitchfork, Ginny opens the car door and knocks him to the ground. Immediately after she gets out of the car Jason gets up - but in the next shot, as Ginny is running you can still see Jason lying on the ground.
- Continuity: The sheriff shows no shortness of breath after running for almost a mile through the forest chasing after Jason.
- Continuity: When the cop is chasing Jason through the woods and arrives at Jason's cabin, his shirt is buttoned all the way. When he enters Jason's cabin, the first button on his shirt is unbuttoned.
- Miscellaneous: At the beginning of the film when the two are driving through the country they stop to use a pay phone. When they see their car is being towed they quickly hang the phone up and run to the tow truck. However while they are running you can see the phone swinging off the hook in the back ground
- Factual errors: The first film takes place on June 13, 1980, which was a Friday, hence Friday the 13th. This film is set five years later, in the summer of 1985, also on Friday the 13th. There wasn't another Friday the 13th during the summer until 1986.
- Revealing mistakes: It is a little obvious that when we see Jason's head shots that there's some sort of enhancement to either the bag, or he's wearing something underneath to keep visualization out of that hole.
- Continuity: When Alice opens the fridge and finds Pamela Voorhees' decapitated head inside, Alice's hair is covering both her ears and when Jason stabs her in the side of her head, her hair is curled behind her ear.
- Continuity: In the scene where Vicki is changing, the window in the mirror has no curtains. The scene changes to outside then back inside again, and the window now has orange curtains on each side.
- Revealing mistakes: When Terry is searching for Muffin, her tiny dog, she looks directly into the point-of-view camera that is supposed to be Jason's perspective, and significantly taller than her. She then calls out "Muffin?", as if expecting the dog to be higher than her eye level.

- Revealing mistakes: SPOILER: When Ginny moves to hit Jason with the machete, he deflects it with the pickax. The machete hits the shrine where Terri's body is lying, and her corpse flinches.
- Continuity: SPOILER: Jason drags Vickie's bloody body down the stairs, face-first, and no blood is left behind on the wooden steps.
