Although "Friday the 13th Part 2" was released in 1981, the film takes place in 1984 along with the following two sequels, "Friday the 13th Part III" and "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter", both of which take place within a week of "Friday the 13th Part 2". This is known because the original "Friday the 13th" takes place in June 1979 (as made clear by the headstone of Pamela Voorhees' grave in "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter") and "Friday the 13th Part 2" takes place five years after the original, as told by the opening scene.

When Sandra (Marta Kober) and Jeff (Bill Randolph) are walking through the woods to find the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake they find what looks like the mutilated corpse of Terri's little dog, Muffin. However, at the end of the movie when Ginny (Amy Steel) and Paul (John Furey) have survived the ordeal with Jason Voorhees (Warrington Gillette), they are in a cabin and hear a noise that they think is danger, but open the door to find Muffin. A moment later Jason Voorhees breaks through a window and grabs Ginny, but she wakes up the next morning on a stretch with police and there is no sign of Jason Voorhees, Paul, or Muffin. Some fans believe that entire sequence is a dream, much like the original's ending, but others believe it really happened. Its all left up to the imagination what happened to Muffin.

Pay attention. Her opening the curtain and getting out occur at different times. The phone ringing is an audio segue that leads you to think the shots are subsequent, but she is not actually getting out when she opens the curtain. It's a "gotcha" where she looks right at the camera.

The drunken bastards stayed out all night at a bar somewhere in town. (Great bunch of counselors!)

They were drunk and it was pouring rain. Since several of them had ridden in the open bed of the pickup, they decided to sleep in town and drive back in the morning.

Alice was not physically attacked by Jason. It was a dream or psychic vision.

Also, at this point in the series of movies, the writters are going on the premise that Jason never drowned and has been living in the surrounding woods this whole time. He only starts his killing spree after he witnesses his mother's death.
