Trivia:
Despite the failure of the film at the box office, the soundtrack was an enormous success. The song "Magic" went to #1 on the U.S. pop singles chart. moreGoofs:
Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Danny and Sonny come to the auditorium, there is a flashback scene where three female singers take the stage in the 1940's sequence. They are all mouthing the words but it is Oliva Newton John doing the singing throughout. The dark haired one also forgets to move her lips occasionally. moreQuotes:
Sonny: I've come to take you out of here.Kira: It can't be done. No one's ever taken anyone out of here. Not in the whole history of... the whole history!
Sonny: I'll make them let you go. Zeus! Zeus, you hear me?
Kira: Oh, God.

Despite all of its critics, I still think this is the best movie ever made. What a great escapism fantasy. The music of ELO, the fantastic costumes, the overall Art Deco feel, the hair, the skating!!! If only the world was as positive and innocent as this movie. I've watched it over 100 times and still find something in it that I haven't seen before every single time I watch it. It is my treat to myself whenever my husband has a "boy's night out." Then I am the greatest singer and dancer in the world, this side of ON-J, of course. When I first watched it in the movie theater (4 times the first week it was out -- LOL!) I never realized what an impact it would have on my life.
