Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that instead of adding your personal opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, that you instead use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

Sex & Nudity

There are some romantic scenes between Han and Leia.

There is a brief but passionate kiss between two people who are revealed to be siblings later in the series.

Violence & Gore

There is a large battle scene near the beginning of the film, where several characters are killed on-screen, or are implied to have been killed. The character "Darth Vader" chokes two men to death using the Force. A mannequin of Vader is decapitated by the character "Luke Skywalker." Early in the film, Luke is captured by a wild animal, mauled and kept for food. Luke escapes cutting the creature's arm off. He is rescued by the character "Han Solo" who cuts the belly of a dying mount open to keep Luke warm. Han is later tortured by Vader off-screen, though the very first bits of the treatment (him being placed face-first into a sparking electric device) are depicted. Vader cuts off Luke's hand and generally batters Luke during a prolonged combat.

Profanity

Han Solo at one point shouts "then I'll see you in Hell"

Some implied alcohol use in the Cloud City sequences.

Several scenes on Yoda's planet may be somewhat scary for younger kids. Some sort of creature lurks under the water and grabs R2D2. In another scene, Luke goes into a dark cave where strange animal sounds are heard. He then has a slow motion light saber encounter with Darth Vader where he chops off Vaders head and then sees his own face in the helmet.Han Solo is also frozen in carbonite which may be scary for very young viewers
