I've really had it with Leonard Maltin, that famous video-guide guru and film critic. He actually manages to dismiss "Zombie Flesh Eaters" as an uninspired George Romero rip-off! How dare he?! Lucio Fulci is a legend in cult horror and this is quite possibly the best film he ever made! And all though Romero is one of my favorite directors (and "Dawn of the Dead" one of my favorite movies) I still find "Zombie Flesh Eaters" (aka "Zombi 2") one of the scariest zombie-movies ever made.
I wonder if Maltin ever saw the movie at all, and if he did he must have dismissed only because it has a smaller budget and he (like everybody else) hates dubbing. How's that for biased bigotry?! Leonard Maltin's Video Guide will no longer see the inside of my home!
"Zombi 2"/"Zombie Flesh Eaters" is extremely gory, it serves us a last 20 minutes that are as intense as anything George Romero has produced and to top it all of it has a great underwater fight between a shark and a zombie! How's that for Italian horror?! This is one of the most influential European horror movies ever made, and deserves a place in any genre fan's collection.
No matter what that "Phantom Menace"-loving geek says.
