The best part about this movie is the scenery, which consists of Venice, CA and the surrounding areas. Some critter is roaming the canals, first chowing down on dogs but then moving on to to making bloody messes out of people. A journalism teacher goes to investigate. Not much in the way of great production values or a plot, and the monster is cheesy as hell, but for some reason I found a lot of this to be entertaining as it shows a lot of interesting Southern California scenery from the 70's, like Venice & Venice beach. There's a certain air of desolation to that place. Anyway, for some reason when you see things from the monster's point of view, it's like looking through a piece of plexiglass with a hole in it. ?? Most weird. The thing is obviously a guy in a rubber suit (a former Olympic swimming star, I think?) and it's nothing that you haven't seen already if you've watched the mutated monster movies of the 50's & 60's. I wouldn't give this high ratings but I wouldn't throw it out either.
