The moral lesson of the week, peeps, is the concept of judgment: how to judge someone, being judged, and how you handle each position of the fence were all at play this last night on Wisteria Lane. I have always loved how Desperate Housewives starts my week off with a moral lesson, which I kind of look at as Sunday school with a bit of dressing up. Anyway, let’s get down to it.
During a play date at Gaby’s house, one of Juanita’s friends named Rachel is “injured” while sliding down the steps in a suitcase with Juanita. Rachel’s mother, Laura (guest star Barbara Aly Woods), is none too pleased about Gaby’s role as a mother. She declares that Gaby is a bad mother after Gaby is nonchalant about the incident and de-invites Rachel from Juanita’s birthday party. Thus, the seeds are »

Chicago – Clearly inspired as much by the success of “Desperate Housewives” as that of its actual source material, ABC’s “Eastwick” is a mixed cauldron of possibilities, a show with a strong enough cast and concept to warrant a second look but also one with enough deep flaws in its premiere to suggest that perhaps this spell will not be cast over too many viewers.
Television Rating: 3.0/5.0 Working from the 1987 film “Witches of Eastwick” (itself based on the novel by John Updike), ABC’s supernatural dramedy features three, well-cast, sexy actresses with more than enough talent to work their magic on many a viewer but also features a male lead trying to fill some awfully big shoes and writing that doesn’t crackle like one would hope.

For the finale of May Flowers I thought we should gaze at Alfred Hitchcock's immortal Vertigo(1958). Aside from Vertigo descendants like Robert Altman's Three Women or David Lynch's Mulholland Drive what film is more appropriate for this time of year when we're ruled by twin sign Gemini? Hitchcock films generally deserve complete dissertations but we don't have Scottie Ferguson's (Jimmy Stewart) stamina when it comes to fetishizing doppelgangers. So in the space of this blogpost we merely glance at his introductions to Madeleine/Judy (Kim Novak).
Ferguson has been hired to follow Madeleine and as he first spots her in the deep rose red restaurant, Hitchock slow zooms out from Scottie (far right) at the bar and pans left, following his gaze, into the dining area filled with flowers and well heeled customers and even a painting of a floral arrangement framed by floral arrangements before it finally stops at Madeleine (tiny, »
