PHANTOM OF Hollywood is a modern-day update of Leroux's horror/romance melodrama - THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
As it states in the title, The Phantom haunts in Hollywood. This time, in MGM Studios. He kills everyone who tries to bring down the old back lots that very set for great masterpieces of the film noir.
Even though it's set somewhere else, this Erik (named Carl here) also cuts down a chandelier. There's a boat/lake scene and a masquerade. Also, he kills everyone who ventures into his domain and send threatening notes to the house management.
As one good Phantom, Carl has an eye for the MGM's owner's daughter - Randy, whom becomes his prisoner. The Raoul character is still here and like most versions, but not like in the book, he's a director.
So, if you're a Phantom Phan, although as hard as it may be to find, you must definitely buy/rent it.
