  • Continuity: Towards the end of the movie, Taggart kicks over a building and discovers the town is fake. Soon thereafter, the building, "Livery and Saddle Shop", is shown back upright and is then blown up.

  • Continuity: When Bart and the Waco Kid are playing chess, the level of whiskey in the Waco Kid's bottle never changes even after he drinks from it.

  • Revealing mistakes: The cable pulling the handcart is clearly visible when Bart and Charlie are going to investigate the quicksand.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Mongo punches the horse, some equipment is briefly visible at the bottom right of screen.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: While the cowboys try to get the railroad workers to sing, the cowboys sing and the banjo player plays the banjo but no sound is heard at all.

  • Factual errors: When the "bad guys" are about to shoot Bart, whom they have just learned is the new sheriff, they are all on horseback and aiming their handguns at Bart. All of the firearms visible are Colt 1873 Single Action Army revolvers. The mistake is that none of the weapons are cocked. Any single action revolver will only fire after the hammer has been moved completely to the rear. None of the guns in question have been cocked - the hammers are all down. Pulling the trigger will not fire the weapon in that state. There is no threat there.

  • Continuity: When Bart arrives in Rock Ridge and the "Welcome Sheriff" banner retracts, it flips once, leaving some of the writing still visible. When Bart walks over to unfurl it again, it is neatly closed with no writing visible.

  • Revealing mistakes: As Bart and Charlie begin to sink in the quicksand, Charlie's arms bend to reveal that the hand car is not sinking at all, but Bart and Charlie are merely squatting.

  • Continuity: Right before, and during, the singing of "Camptown Ladies", the cowboy behind Lyle and to his left (our right) is wearing a white jacket that goes from being buttoned to un-buttoned to buttoned several times.

  • Miscellaneous: Toward the end of the movie when we see the marquee at Grauman's Chinese Theater, the title "Blazing Saddles" jumps on the marquee showing it was superimposed on the film and not actually on the marquee.

  • Continuity: When in the Fake town, they knock down a building to reveal it is fake. In the next scene (with the explosion) the same person is standing in front of the same building now upright which falls again in the explosion.

  • Anachronisms: When Taggart is talking to the black railroad workers in the quicksand, an aircraft contrail is visible in the corner, in the sky.

  • Revealing mistakes: Toward the end of the film, when the fight spills onto the other set, at one point, it spills into the street. Participants in the scene are seen running out of the studio and around the street corner. As the shot pulls back to follow Hedly looking for a cab, the runners can be seen in the background, slowing to a walk, apparently thinking they are no longer visible. Once they realize they are still in the shot, they begin to run again.

  • Factual errors: When Bart comes to town and everyone is pointing guns at him, they all have Winchester 1892 and 1894 rifles. The movie takes place in 1874. They should be using 1873 Winchester rifles.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When the sheriff first arrives in town in the desert, the wind is blowing and you can see a rubber band holding his cowboy hat in place. When he gets to town, the rubber band is gone.

  • Continuity: The desk and chair in Gov. LePetomaine's office changes throughout the movie. This was possibly done on purpose as a joke by the filmmakers.

  • Continuity: When the old woman brings a pie to Sheriff Bart, she places the pie on the window ledge. The camera goes to the Waco Kid and then back to the old woman as you see her put it on the ledge again.

  • Continuity: When Hedley re-emerges from the bathroom, we see that he has gotten hit in the face with a pie while in there and there is only a small portion of whipped cream on his face. However, when we see him hailing down a taxi in the next scene, there is a full, even layer of whipped cream on his face.

  • Factual errors: In the sign up scene, Hedley Lamarr fires a two shot Derringer three times without reloading.

  • Continuity: During the chess game, the Waco Kid's right hand is steady as a rock, but he says he shoots with his fluttering left hand. But late in the movie when he squeezes off a shot to detonate the dynamite, he shoots with his right hand.

  • Factual errors: When Bart and the Waco Kid are playing chess, looking at the board, the game is not in checkmate.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: During the destruction of the Fake Rock Ridge, Taggart yells, "It's a fake! We've been suckered in!", but his mouth does not move.

  • Continuity: When Jim finishes shaving, he has bits of shaving cream on his face. After he "draws" his fingers on Bart the shaving cream on his face is completely gone.

  • Miscellaneous: When Mongo enters the saloon, right after everyone gasps you can clearly hear Mel Brooks say "cut".

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Sheriff Bart is making his ride to Rock Ridge and he encounters Count Basie, Basie's band is clearly not playing the music heard on the audio track. This is easily recognized if you watch the band's drummer, who isn't even playing his drum kit, let alone the actual drum patterns heard in the music.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When the camera is panning past the bikers who are waiting to apply for the army to take down Rock Ridge, the one on the left moves the handlebars a little too high and you can see that they aren't actually connected to anything. This is not a revealing mistake, but a deliberate sight gag which showed the two "biker cowboys" who have chopper handlebars connected to not to a motorcycle, but to their holster belts, which was obviously shown on purpose as part of the gag, and which was just one of many sight gags seen while the camera pans down the line.

  • Factual errors: Hedy Lamarr's footprints do not appear in the concrete at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
