Private Practice Recap: "The Way We Were"

9 October 2009 2:12 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Poor Violet.

A month has passed since the season premiere of Private Practice - or at least since the events shown on that episode took place - but no one has moved on. At all.

Violet feels nothing toward the baby she had stolen from her. Pete doesn't know how to get through to her, and Sheldon wants a place in her life (and the baby's).

Addison and Sam bond as they are mourning the same loss - Naomi - while Cooper has yet to visit his friend since he blames himself for what happened to her.

In short, everybody on Private Practice is a complete mess.

Follow the link for a recap of "The Way We Were."

"Your Girl is Lovely, Hubbell"

26 August 2009 8:45 AM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Robert Redford is in the air. He hasn't dissolved into something atmospheric (stop being so literal!) but his name keeps turning up. Last week his two early sexually fluid performances opposite Natalie Wood (This Property is Condemned and Inside Daisy Clover) were playing here in New York and next month in Brooklyn Bam Cinema hosts a retrospective. It culminates on September 13th with four films and the Sundance Kid himself in person. For whatever reason they've narrowed down the final four to Redford as romantic figure, often paired with true giants among actresses.

On the last day they're screening...

Out of Africa (1985) The Best Picture winning bio in which Redford can't be tamed by Meryl Streep's author/heroine but gladly offers up shampoo and stud services.

The Motion Picture Academy has been on a roll as of late, presenting some of the finest  exhibits and screenings in its fabled history. The year began with a tribute to Academy founder Douglas Fairbanks featuring legendary film scholar Kevin Brownlow. In April there was a tribute to Milt Kahl, “The Animation Michelangelo,” that featured Brad Bird and others paying tribute to one of Disney’s premier character designers. Currently, there is an excellent display of cells and sketches highlighting the Japanese form of animation, “Anime!” (The Academy is to be commended for their continued celebration of that frequently neglected art of film-making). And last week, there was tribute to Joseph Mankewiecz, one of the finest screenwriters who »

Peters Accuses Ex Streisand Of Seducing Co-Stars

14 May 2009 12:20 PM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Barbra Streisand enjoyed affairs with her movie co-stars Robert Redford, Ryan O'Neal and Kris Kristofferson at the height of her fame, according to the singer/actress' ex-boyfriend, Hollywood producer Jon Peters.

Peters, who produced Superman Returns and Batman, claims in his upcoming memoir Studio Head that Streisand confided in him that she had "life-imitates-art affairs" with the actors.

Her fling with O'Neal came after they met on the set of 1972 movie What's Up Doc?, shortly after her split from husband Elliot Gould, Peters alleges.

And he claims she seduced Redford while he was married to Lola Van Wagenen on the set of 1973's The Way We Were. A romance with Kristofferson followed in 1976, according to the book.

Peters writes: "Barbra may have had her neuroses and insecurities, but getting men, the men every woman wanted, was not one of them."

Reps for Streisand, O'Neal and Redford had not responded to requests for comment as WENN went to press, while Kristofferson's spokesperson had no comment.

Peters' memoir was bought by Harper-Collins Publishers in April for $700,000 (£462,350), reports the New York Post. »

Streisand's Ex Details Sexual Abuse In Singer's Past

14 May 2009 9:15 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood movie mogul Ray Stark sexually abused Barbra Streisand at the start of her acting career, the superstar's producer ex-boyfriend Jon Peters alleges in a new book.

Peters, who produced films like Superman Returns and Batman, describes how he "wanted to kill" Stark when he learned Streisand and his ex-wife, actress Lesley Ann Warren, were molested during casting sessions.

He claims Stark - who died in 2004 - took advantage of Streisand as she prepared for her breakthrough performance in 1968's Funny Girl and 1973 film The Way We Were.

He writes: "Stark, an ogre of male chauvinistic casting-couch sexual entitlement, had molested both Lesley Ann and Barbra when they were auditioning for him, and neither had ever really gotten over it."

Spokespersons for Streisand and Warren did not return requests for comment as WENN went to press.

Peters' memoir was bought by Harper-Collins Publishers in April for $700,000 (£462,350), reports the New York Post. »
