Jazzy goodness

Oversexed giallo with beautiful women and creative deaths. It's a story of murder in an apartment building that revolves around the world of fashion and photography. Models are getting butchered and the blundering cops aren't really helping things. The usual gloved killer is stalking the grounds and everyone (especially the weird neighbours) is a suspect.

This one is a picture of it's time. I love the dizzying camera work and the ultra-jazzy score. I also love the kitchy clothes, hairdos, furniture and decor. But beyond the 70's sensory overload, there's a terrific giallo story here. The murders are frequent and all of them are beautifully staged. The bathtub murder, for example, predated What Lies Beneath by about 30 years but still has the same impact. A short scene in the junkyard was fun and the terrific boiler room battle was particularly thrilling. Even the comic relief policemen made me laugh every time and never crossed the line into farce. The killer revelation and climatic fight scenes were perfect.

Highly recommended Italian horror/mystery movie.
