After hearing about this movie for a long time, I finally found it for rent while visiting my in-laws in August of 2001. It was only the second time in my adult life that I have been scared by a movie (Kubrick's The Shining was the other one). The low budget only adds to this. Having most of the encounters take place at night in a desolate swampland was quite chilling. I nearly jumped through the roof when my brother-in-law crept outside and made wild animal sounds from just outside the window in the middle of the movie (at 2 AM in a rural area). I recommend this to any sasquatch buff.
The funny part comes when the principal character goes to visit an eccentric friend and mentions that this guy "shot himself in the foot during a boating accident". Huh?
