The picture narrates as a renegade motley group (Warren Oates,Kerwin Matthews,Armando Sivestre)execute a massacre and they are robbing to the village's inhabitants. They flee but are stopped for a barge's proprietary(Lee Van Cleef) in the frontier on the river Grande. He only is helped for a mountain man (Forrest Tucker). The confrontation will be terrible and they will fight until the death.
The highlights movie are the initial slaughter by the cutthroats and the facing off between the goods and the nasties on the lumber barges. The film joint to ¨Hang em high¨(Ted Post with Clint Eatwood) belongs to numerous American films influenced for the spaghetti western, thus develop theme as: the revenge, the violent facing, similar music, the antiheroes, spectacular gun down and excessive baddies . Lee Van Cleef recent success in Italian western(a few dollars more) is top notch.Warren Oates is magnificent as the ominous and hideous villain .The secondary cast is excellent ,Forrest Tucker as the wry and impulsive trapper and John Davis Chandler as always makes of cocky villain . Dominic Frontiere music is atmospheric and adjusted to the action western similar to that made for¨Hang high¨. Gordon Douglas direction is nice ,he had got experience en western genre(Only the valiant and Chuka). The yarn will like to Lee Van Cleef and western movies fans
