"DEPARTMENT S" is typical of the ITC action/adventure shows of the 60's but has more intriguing plots than most and it had a good cast who worked well together. Peter Wyngarde as flamboyant hero Jason King was over the top even for those days and now looks like a buffoon. When it became public in the 70's that Wyngarde was something considerably less in real life than the suave ladykiller he portrayed then the "campness" of the character took on a whole different meaning. So much so in fact that it is difficult to take this once enthralling show seriously any more. The follow up series "JASON KING" dispensed with all the supporting characters and is too awful to be described.
