This update of the 50's classic is very enjoyable, if not as successful. It's in color, and the cases are still true, Friday still has a partner etc. The cases mostly had to do with hippies, drug busts, people Jack Webb saw as bad, and many other types of that stuff. Harry Morgan plays officer Bill Gannon, Sgt. Joe Friday's goofy partner, or maybe just goofy to Friday. Morgan did a good job in the role, but he was better in "M*A*S*H*". As for the acting, well Webb and Morgan always did a fine job, but when it came to criminals, the same faces kept turning up, which wasn't really a problem, but over and over and over again. Tim Donnelly from "Parts: The Clonus Horror" and "EMERGENCY!" (he played firefighter Chet Kelly) appeared a few times, once as 'The Crimson Crusader' (he was kind of insane). Merry Anders also turned up a few times as a cop, she was in "The Hypnotic Eye" and "Blood Legacy". I have seen all the episodes (from TV LAND, of course) and after awhile, you begin to laugh at some of the guest stars acting, but it never really got in the way of the story. All in all it's an enjoyable updating.
