Review
(1966) John Frankenheimer's drama, set and shot over the 1966 season on the Grand Prix Formula 1 racing circuit, is still considered one of the greatest car racing films every made. The story follows 4 racers vying for the title -- disgraced maverick American James Garner (driving for Toshiro Mifune), ultra-professional French veteran Yves Montand, British Brian Bedford, and cocky young Italian phenom Antonio Sabato -- and their lives and loves over the course of the year. Eva Marie Saint, Jessica Walter, and Francoise Hardy co-star. The almost 3-hour production, restored from original 65mm elements, features the original entr'acte and intermission and is spread over two discs.
