I saw this movie in Paris, sitting on the floor, in front of the Eiffel Tour, during an outdoor movie night. I will never forget it. What a movie ! The thing is, with Godart, you love it or hate it : it's fifty fifty. My friend hated it, so to follow the pattern i loved it.
It's beautiful, full of poetry, the actors are so fresh they make you feel old and useless. I think you ought to watch 'Pierrot le fou' more than once to actually get the whole story, but even if you don't, there are so many things happening in this movie that you can always enjoy yourself. The actors are incredible, the scenery is beautiful, the colors strike you, the dialogues are breathtaking, ... and even the sense of getting lost as the movie develops is incredibly enjoyable in Godart's movie.
It really was an experience. Thank you Godart, I'm looking forward to watching your other movies.
